Abortion Information Directory

Abortion has been legal in the US since 1973, when the US Supreme court decision was handed down in the case of Roe v Wade. Abortion information centers may include women's health clinics that perform abortions, family planning centers that provide contraception counseling as well as abortion referrals, and they may also include abortion alternative and pregnancy counseling centers designed to offer expectant mothers educated alternatives to abortion.

Almost half of US women experience abortion by age 45. There about 1.3 million abortions in the US every year. Some social commentators believe that a reduction in the US crime rate during the 1990s was due to the legalization of abortion in the 1970s, preventing the birth of millions of unwanted children.
