Acupuncture is a treatment where very fine needles are inserted in the skin, to influence the way the body functions physiologically. Acupuncture was developed in China over 5,000 years ago, and follows the precept that "chi" or energy travels along certain well defined and inter-related paths, and that much pain and illness stems from the flow of the chi being blocked. Acupressure is a non-invasive massage therapy that follows the same paths of the chi.
