In cities and suburban areas, there are more adult daycare centers and services than ever before. Senior day care helps family members and friends, who provide care for a loved one, to keep their jobs and to have assistance with some of the physical chores involved in providing care. They also may avoid the guilt of putting a parent in a "home", and obtain some relief from the full-time responsibility. For seniors, adult day care offers a chance to live with their family and not be a burden 24 hours per day. They find opportunities for social interaction with peers. They can participate in programs of exercise and other mentally stimulating activities. And they can receive physical, occupational or speech therapy in a non-medical environment, and they can receive assistance with their personal needs.
