ambulance & rescue Directory
Emergency Medical Service or EMS includes ambulance and rescue services. Emergency air and ground transportation programs may provide critical care level treatments and emergency medical intervention during rapid transport of critically ill or injured patients. Transportation may be provided by ground ambulance, helicopter, turbo prop or jet aircraft .
Paramedics, pilots, flight nurses and dispatchers are trained in critical care and prepared for pediatric and adult medical emergencies of all types. Onboard advanced life support equipment lets the crew offer immediate stabilizing treatment for the patient while on the way to a medical facility.
Ambulance and rescue services generally operate 24 hours a day, providing accident and emergency response, paramedics, and also non-emergency patient transport service. Ambulance and rescue services may also provide additional facilities which extend the range of care beyond that of road ambulances. These may include rescue teams and rescue boat services, as well as training in CPR and first aid.
