Emergency medical care is based primarily in hospital emergency departments but with increasing reliance on paramedics and satellite urgent care treatment centers. Proper treatment of trauma and physical injury from auto or industrial accidents, stabbing, gunshot wounds or falls, requires prompt assessment and rapid transportation.
