A home care program helps people with a disability, older people and their caregivers, to live full, independent and dignified lives within the comfort of their own homes. Families choose a home care agency for different reasons. For some, it is for extensive care, and for others it offers a much needed break or "respite care" for family members who regularly provide care.
Homecare workers are often caring people who help prepare meals, transport clients to doctors offices or other appointments, perform light housekeeping, and in some cases assist with personal care, dressing, and bathing, as well as helping with exercise, incontinence, feeding, hygiene and special diets. They also provide much-needed companionship.
Home health aides keep records of the patient's condition and progress, as well as the services they perform, and report to the supervisor or manager.
