Independent Living Directory

As they grow older, many people wish to live independently, yet need some help from time to time. They prefer not to live alone or at home, but they are not ready for the more intense personal care of assisted living. There may be recreational activities planned such as shopping trips and other adventures, plus projects and activities that take place on site. Generally meal plans are optional, and most apartments come with kitchens so residents can live completely independently if they chose. Other names are congregate living, senior apartments and retirement communities. Generally there are not medical care facilities within independent living communities, although wellness plans are often a feature.
