Medical transcriptionists transcribe (write) medical records that have been dictated verbally, or handwritten, by doctors and other medical professionals. The records may include medical histories, clinic notes, physical examination reports, office notes, consultation notes, operative reports, letters, discharge summaries, psychiatric evaluations, x-ray reports, lab reports and pathology reports. The dictations may be received in the form of digital system, tape or voice file. Many medical transcriptionists work at home.
