Physical therapists treat muscular, skeletal and neural systems. They evaluate patients, and figure out the best ways to improve mobility and relieve pain. A physiotherapist will observe and analyze how a patient moves and walks, and identify posture and alignment problems, They also may measure range of motion, strength, balance, coordination, and respiration. Then the therapist will create a trreatment plan, which may include strength training, stretching exercises, balance and coordination exercies, aquatic therapy, and safety programs. They also may use heat, cold, electric stimulation, ultrasound therapy and massage.
Physiotherapists may treat problems from injuries to the back and neck, sprains and muscle strains, bone fractures, burns, arthritis, stroke, birth defects, sports and work injuries.
