Veterinarians
Veterinarians treat animals and provide medical care to pets and livestock, as well as wildlife and zoo animals. In addition, veterinarians advise pet owners regarding the care and breeding of their animals. They also protect people from being infected by animal diseases, or diseases carried by animals.
The majority of veterinarians treat small animals, usually pets such as dogs and cats, and also including birds, reptiles, rabbits and other pets. Large animal vets work with farmers and ranchers to maintain the health of their livestock and help ensure a safe food supply.
