There are trauma centers, children's hospitals, and geriatric hospitals, as well as specialized facilities. Hospitals may be a single building (sometimes called a clinic) or a huge campus (often known as a medical center). Smaller medical facilities are often called clinics, and may be run by government agencies, by a private partnership, or by a non-profit organization. Outpatient clinics are generally small health facilities that provide health care for ambulatory patients or clients in a community, while the more seriously ill are treated in a hospital as inpatients.
